How to kill the cursed bloom effect it's written in French but the pictures are easy enough to follow and I added quick and dirty translation here too (I don't know a single word in French so...)
Find your way to the
Program Files/ Electronic Arts /The Sims 3 /Game /Bin folder
Find the file called
GraphicRules.sgr and open it in notepad (you might have to assign notepad to be able to open those files, also since you'll probably have to replace it with the original one everytime you update it's not a bad idea to make a copy of it now!)
Search the file for word
advancedrendering (you can hit ctrl+f for search tool to open up)
below that find line that says
prop $ConfigGroup RenderPostProcessEnabled false and copy it below line saying
prop $ConfigGroup TerrainLODMode 0
(as shown in this picture above)
Test in game and rejoice! You'll probably have to revert the file back to original for every update so keep copy of the original one somewhere handy or just delete that one added line.
*Note: I haven't tested this yet but somebody reblogged in tumblr squealing that it works so it should work. And even if it doesn't work reverting is fast and easy enough so no harm in trying it
