Time to kick off a fresh finds thread! grin It's already the 25th in my timezone so I figured I could get a little headstart on the TS2 Updates this week.

So, I want to start this thread with a bit of (now already old) news.

For those of you who hadn't heard, Mediafire introduced a change in their policy that, come January, would allow them to terminate 'Abandoned accounts', a.k.a any free registered accounts that haven't been logged into for over 8 months. This, of course, would spell disaster for the countless inactive sims cc creators whose content was behind Mediafire links. Here is a post that explains the consequences of this change for the Sims 1, 2, 3, and 4 communities and here is Mediafire's official Data Retention Policy page.

If you're a dedicated cc hoarder and this news hit you like a punch to the gut, well, worry not! There's also a good side to this story. After hearing the bad news, the Sims 2 community came together in a collective effort, led by Sims2Packrat and Fireflowersims, to preserve the old content - an effort that would come to be known as Project Mediafryer.

Simmers were encouraged to go through their favorite old creators' pages and archive their Mediafire content, and they were able to do this in an organized way thanks to Fireflower's Mediafryer Spreadsheets and Sims2Packrat's Mediafire Purge pinned post. Many forums, such as Garden of Shadows, The PlumbBob Keep, and our Simscave, also encouraged their members to go through the older sections and make backup links of any Mediafire links they encounter, and had dedicated threads where members could discuss the process and comment their progress.

It was a run against time and everyone had to put in maximum effort to cover as much old content as possible, but this community is nothing if not dedicated! Thanks to all of your incredible effort (you know who you are!❤), we were successful able to preserve a part of simming history.

So please allow me to be sappy for a moment and give a heartfelt
❤ THANK YOU ❤
to everyone
who participated in or contributed to Project Mediafryer in any way, shape or form, be it by signal boosting on Tumblr, finding inactive links, archiving, sharing useful knowledge, or simply logging into your Mediafire account so as to keep it alive. None of this would've been possible without all of you amazing people. You're what makes this community wonderful.

Another piece of news, this time sadly not so great: it looks like AllTheHairs has bitten the dust. It's overrun with spam links (at least four pages worth of it, from what I've heard) and most people can't even access the site as their antiviruses keep blocking it due to malware risk. I don't want to believe that AllTheHairs is gone for good (for all we know there might still be a chance to save it), but for the time being, it's best to avoid it.

In the meantime, please check out Krabbysims' Sims 2 Hair Database spreadsheet, as it's the best alternative to AllTheHairs that's currently available.

And a heads-up: Simfileshare is currently experiencing downtime. If you try to access sfs links and get errors, please be patient! They're looking into it.

Okay, I'm done newsbombing you all now. On to some actual downloads:

Sixfootsims shared a download I'm personally very happy about: default replacements of the Maxis hood deco Birch Tree that complement Criquette's and Lowedeus' Linden tree default!

And speaking of Criquette... Have you guys heard that he finally shared Feverfew, a fully decorated custom hood?
