Last night my Mom went into the hospital with a minor heart attack. She is going in for triple bypass surgery on monday. Please say some prayers for her to keep her safe and for fast healing as her body has trouble healing. I tell you I am trying to stay positive but I have to say I am scared to death here. I have prayed to God to keep her safe and am trying to leave it in his wonderful hands. I do know how good of prayers all of you send out and can sure use some. I am not sure if you know but my Dad is now in a nursing home in a vegatative state from his alzhiemers and lewy body demensia. They did call from the nursing home today and appearently his and my Mom's connection to each other is strong cuz he knew something was wrong and has been sobbing all day. 1 day out of like a few hundred for him to come around but he knew something was wrong and has been asking for her all day. But life has been hard on my Mom and I this year with my Dad losing his fight to this illness and am not sure we can take much more.

I will be saying prayers for you, your mom & your dad! Surely God will give her the strength to fight thru this because your dad still needs her.
I work in a nursing home with an Alzheimers Unit. It is such a tragic disease. You are a strong person to have weathered so much. You hang in there. I'm betting you & your family are going to get lots of prayers.  :angel1:

I'm sending positive thoughts your way.  Triple bypasses are a lot more common these days, which is a small mixed blessing in her favour.

Am gonna add my prayers to this list. Seen 'em work all the time in my life; have faith, things work out for the best. Hang on to the light, the good stuff, turn your back on fear and the dark. Hold on to folks you love. We're all a lot stronger than we think. Good luck and go with God.

Omg, my heart goes out to you.  I dont know the pain your going through that well but it's heart breaking to read.  Good luck to your mother, I'm not a christian but I do have faith and will send my prays tonight for you.  Bless your mother's heart.

dachshundsr4me I am so sorry to hear about your mom.  I will keep her in my prayers along with my mom.  I know how scared you must be.  My mom was diagnosed with complete kidney failure of both kidneys and COPD in April.  I can say I know your pain and feels of the unknown.  But moms know that we still need them and they fight a very good fight.  There is a strength that a mom has that is unexplainable and your mom will pull through, she may be a little weaker than she was and need more help than she did before but she will come through this.  I just have to believe she will be fine and she will.

I've beenwhere you are now.  It was my brother and he and I were the only family.  I swear i hear my late father's voice the night before his 5 vessel bypass, that he would be okay.  It was a great comfort and helped me make it through.  He came out fine.  So I know prayer works.  My prayer is own it's way.  God bless.  Judy

I just saw this and I am putting you (all - your Mom, your Dad and you too) on my prayer chain.  I firmly believe in the power of prayer too, so I will be praying for you all and be sure to keep a positive thought.  I am sorry to hear that you are going through all of this, I know from my own experiences that it isn't easy.  Stay strong.

Stay strong.  I know it's easier said but even with the trials, life is still good.  Keep relying on your faith.

Thanks everyone....the surgery is done and everything went well. So she is now in recovery. If all goes well she will be home soon.

So glad her surgery went well, I hope she recovers and is out and about, feeling fine soon.  Take care of her and yourself. 

I am not one to do the whole prayer thing, but i do send  positive thoughts and wishes your way. Glad to hear that the surgery went well and i hope your mother recovers and comes home soon.

I'll pray for your family. Happy to hear the surgery went well. Be sure to ask lots of questions to her doctors for after surgery care. We recently went through a rough period with my Mother and I know the power of prayer got us past it. Even when the doctors were giving up, we never did! She's still with us, although she's frailer than she's ever been before. We are so thankful to God that he allowed her to stay just awhile longer.

My prayers are with you and your family. I pray for a speedy recovery for your mom.

Thanks for the prayers. She is home now. Its gonna take time for her to heal but she is doing great so far. I do think all the prayers helped.  :)

Dachs, I haven't been online alot lately but I remembered that I posted to this thread and wanted to know how your mom was doing.  I am so glad to hear that your mom came through surgery ok and is now home resting and recovering.  I remember saying something in my last post that the strengths of mothers is very strong and they know when we still need them even though we are grown.  My own mother has been in and out of the hospital several times since my last post and she is doing well.

Again I am so happy to hear your mom is doing well.

mom is doing some better..she has had a stroke so we are dealing with that and getting her well from that. I am sorry for lack of updates but as you can probably guess caring for her is a full time job.

I always read this forum but I've never written but today I wanted to tell you, thank you, thank you very much for your work.

I am so glad your mom is well.  I will ask Jesus to make your days more happy and sunny.  Only people who go through pain can empathize with others?......No...........It's people who have the love of Jesus, empathize with a fellow sufferer.  I cannot let myself commit to God Almighty, so may be you should pray for me and all of us.  Have a nice day!!!  8)

Sorry I saw this until today. I'm glad your mom is safe home now and hope that she's recovered now from the stroke. My thoughts and prayers are with you. One big hug.

I just wanted to let everyone know the update on my mom...she passed on from cancer Jan 20th 2010

My Dad passed on March 17th 2011

After the heart attack she healed and then had a bad three days where we thought she had the flu...it wasnt a stomach flu...it was uterine cancer that had attached itself onto my moms colon. This was only three months following the triple bypass...not sure why they didn't find the cancer when they did her MRI for the heart surgery but they didn't.

Anyway she was due to have her hysterectomy and she had a stroke 6 days before the day of her surgery...most likely due to the heart problems....they say they tend to have strokes afterwards. She was stubborn on going to the hospital again so close to the heart attack...she was scared I'm sure but the window of time for the golden shot had closed and she had to get over the stroke slowly. They tried to comfort me by saying that since her heart surgery had not been that long they probably couldn't have given her the shot anyway...really i will never know if that is true or not...luck just wasn't on her side.

Anyway she had to be placed on such nasty blood thinners that  her surgery couldn't happen. By the time she semi recovered from the stroke the cancer had spread everywhere. Then she ended up with sepsis that she tried to get over but it eventually took her out of this world. I am just happy that my mom is no longer in pain and my Dad is no longer suffering with his Alzheimer. I know they are both finally together and that brings peace to me.

That should have been very hard for you to write.  When does the big JC stop loving you? 5 minutes before your death?  The answer is never!!  Death is just a metamorphosis for much beautiful things to be revealed!!  Cheer up!!  :flower:

I do understand you very well, hun. I've been through the vary same path. First dad, then mom. Now I'm alone and so depressed that my chest hurts. It's almost like physical pain. To top it off I lost my good job because of political views. It's been hard but I'm still here.
