There are also very few effects, she did not want any fireflies or chimney smoke or flocks of birds or anything. I did get away with a few seagulls and pigeons!
This gave me a good Sunday laugh.
I'll give it a try next time I play TS3. I love the look of the big bridge! Thank you so much for all your work and for being kind enough to share with us, Simsample! Of course, I extend my thanks to your daughter for giving you permission to do so.

 Nalia, you should have heard the arguments! Me: You must have an airport, or a dock... how do people get on and off the island? Daughter: I don't know, I don't really care! Me: And what about supplies, you need a farm or something to explain how they get food to the island... Daughter- They are sims! They pull food out of their arse! Me: And you need a lighthouse, otherwise ships will sail into those rocks... Daughter- ARGHHH! WILL YOU STOP IT!  :bleh

AmberIndia-
This is a MEDIUM sized UNPOPULATED world,
  ;D

  So much for realism! Although we should admit she has a point regarding Sims pulling things out of their arse.
I bet she was eagerly waiting to play with your new world, so she thought the less you fiddled with it the sooner she would enjoy her new "toy".

I like this very much!

Awesome job!!! I'm still not quite sure what the CAW files and the resources are... What folder do we put them in?

Hey angelcake, those are just if you want to open the world in CAW and edit it for your own use. If you just want to play it, you only need to download the Sims3Pack. :)

Thanks to you and your daughter for sharing this. It looks fantastic.

I have downloaded the world but before I install it and unleash sims into it I wanted to ask what rabbit holes and career buildings it has. Also, are there Ambitions lots in there somewhere (fire station, consignment store, etc - I did notice a building with a hair salon shingle!)? What about any LN venues (not so much clubs but is there a dive bar or some other LN venue)? I don't mind playing around with placing new lots but knowing in advance what is "missing" would make the job much easier.

Thanks for the great comments, everyone!

Engram, this has all rabbitholes and two buildings zoned as LN clubs.
Rabbitholes as follows:
Diner
Stadium
Hospital
School X2
Military
Movie Backlot
Science
Business
Criminal
City Hall
Bookstore
Grocery
Spa
Bistro
Theatre
Police

Zoned community lots as follows:
Consignment Store
Beauty Salon
Gym X2
Community Garden
Pool X2
Clubs X2 (one Local watering hole, one Vampire Lounge)
Fishing Spot X2
Graveyard
Parks X4
Library
Art Gallery
Fire Station
Laundrette
Beach

Most of the lots are EA, I built very few lots for this myself (the object being to make a quick world, that my daughter could gradually rebuild). There are also 5 empty lots.
I hope this helps!

Simsample - thank you for doing all the hard work and your daughter for her part in the creative process :)  It's hard to come by a medium unpopulated world and this is perfect!!!  I can't wait to try it out.  I love small to medium unpopulated worlds.  Don't get me wrong, I love the large ones too but I find with large worlds, my game gets a bit laggy so I prefer small to medium.  Thank you, thank you, thank you  ;)

Thank you so much, Simsample! Love you!

I'm LOVING this world in my game! I was wandering if since installing pets, will this world become populated with stray animals? If not, is there a way to add "pet spawners" or something with CAW tool? Because I'd love to have some animals in it. (I haven't installed pets yet because of the borked cc, so I don't know how pets works with custom worlds.)

I'm glad you like it, angelcake!

From what I've read, wild animals should spawn in all custom worlds without you adding anything, as long as it's not a city world. Since Shearwater is flagged as a suburb, you should be able to install pets and see wild animals there just fine. :)

Thank you sooo much!! (Although I still haven't installed pets cuz of all the stupid bugs :P) Maybe I use grant's tool to fix my cc because I can't wait to have animals! Thanks again for the awesome world! It's the only one I play in the game ^_^

this world looks amazing

I haven't been brave enough to actually install any CC yet - only just got the game and I'm still reading everything I can get my hands on!! But I'll try it soon, it looks too delicious to have to wait much longer

In the meantime alot of modders have updated their work for patch 1.26. So look out if the cc you're using is updated. Sites like simply styling, Mod the sims, mangosims, exotic elements, einfach simlish, have updated their stuff.
Also, clothes, make-up, hair, patterns and such just work with pets, even if they are created before Pets.  It's more the items that cause trouble, like deco stuff, tubs, beds, outside items and the like. Stuff that you could move. And heavy scipted mods too, like mastercontroller. But Twallan has already updated all of his mods so that it works with pets. Awesomemod also works with Pets. Same goes for the slider hacks of Delphy and Jonha.

Looks good. Only a bit too little clubs, but that can be fixed. Need to bulldoze a bit then or just build extra.
Do you have used different size of lots or is everything one size? And which size is the most common?
In the standard ones you see alot 30x20 and 40x040.

Thank you all for your nice comments! :) My daughter is pleased that people are enjoying her world.

candesco, in a small world it is difficult to fit in all of the club types (there are nine types altogether). This world has two club lots, so my suggestion is that you rezone them occasionally for your sims who are learning mixology. Shearwater was built with all EA lots because my daughter wanted to rebuild it, anyway- so the idea is that you demolish the lots and replace them. The EA lots are only there so that she could play whilst she built; I would take more care in lot design if I were building all of the lots!

The lots vary in sizes- they are mostly standard sizes of course, as they are to fit the EA lots. The smallest lot is 15X15 (three empty lots on a beach to build beach shacks on) and the largest are 60X60. There are a range of lot sizes in between, my suggestion is that you download the CAW files and place the lot sizes you want, if you don't like the sizes I have used.

I will use some custom made ones which use small tiles instead of 50 or larger, like the standard EA ones use. And probably make something of my own. In that way you won't have problems with the space.
It is also the plan to demolish some buildings. When i said about that bulldozing i meant that for myself. I need to bulldoze myself or plant extra. I don't ask you to do that. No, the world as it is now is just good. Let me do the changing. As for those sizes: no, just wanted the information which sizes you have used. Now that you provided that i now know what to expect and can bear that in mind when i wanted to replace something.
Thanks for the information.

Hehe, I wasn't offering to do it for you, what I meant was that I built this world to my daughter's specifications, and for that reason I added the CAW files to the first post so that people could change the world to their requirements. So if you download those you can edit it more accurately than you can in-game.

Ah, ok. Well, i don't know about the CAW files. I'm afraid to break something, like routing lines or something like that. I assume you use those with the create a world tool.

Title: Re: Shearwater World
Post by: simsample on December 10, 2011, 04:01:30 am
It's not as complicated as it sounds; CAW will rebuild the routing for you if you click a button. :)

But if you don't use CAW then I'm afraid you're stuck with the in-game world editor, which is not very good at adding lots. :(

Title: Re: Shearwater World
Post by: candesco on December 10, 2011, 01:49:36 pm
In that case i could give it a try. If i can fiddle a bit with enchanted editor, then this one would be a walk in the park as it seems.
The in-game editor is pretty limited yes. Those lots are all prefab things and you can't build extra roads. However, if you only replace a house with an other, then it's not a big problem and it's more bulldoze  and place.

Would this work with the Sims 3 Pets Expansion?

Title: Re: Shearwater World
Post by: simsample on December 14, 2011, 03:02:24 am
Yes it will; the small animals spawn from the existing spawners (although you could add some to certain lots if you wanted specific animals in specific places). I see deer, wild horses, raccoons and Unicorns in this world when I play.

I demolished the 'Aquarius Rising' house and replaced it with an equestrian centre in my Shearwater game. :)

Note: I managed to get this world uploaded to the exchange at last:
http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=6160947# (link updated 15.01.2015, for direct link from EA's server without having to log in: *click* (http://lvlt.thesims3.com/6160947.Sims3Pack))
If you download from there, please do me a favour and click 'recommend' as that way it won't be deleted by EA. :)

May I steal the .ini files from the world (minus the fly-by)? I've been looking for some world recolors and haven't had the patients to give my own files a second go.  :pinch:

Sure you can, ArtsLover- just grab them from the first thread and delete the files you don't want. The weather for Shearwater is just ripped from EA worlds anyway, with a few minor tweaks. :)
